About
Allie’s Sweet Tooth is first and foremost a Specialty Cookie Bakery, according to owner Allison Zajaros-Adams. Her business kicked off in Cleveland in 2008 with a focus on custom decorated cookies and specialty cookies that you would find on the traditional wedding table at any reception between Pittsburgh and Cleveland! Of course, she expanded to create a whole variety of treats sold at her bakery, now located in Sharon, PA. Specializing in the desserts of the rust belt, Allie’s Sweet Tooth provides sweet treats throughout the Pittsburgh, Erie & Cleveland areas.
According to Allie, her recipes come directly from family members, including her German grandmother, who came over as a war bride from WWII to settle in the Cleveland region, was surrounded by the culture and culinary offerings created by family and friends’ families who worked at the former US Steel Mill located in Lorain, Ohio.
“My childhood was centered around those history stories that come from the food of my family – connected to Germany, Hungary and Slovakia – and my neighborhood,” said the Mercer County, PA bakery owner. “I remember learning these recipes with my grandmother and mother, and these are the recipes that my bakery items come from.” Her specialty is the cookies found at wedding tables – part of the Wedding Cookie Table tradition - considered an edible homage to the region’s steel heritage and industrial history.
Family is still the priority – and is the core of everything she does. Her two oldest daughters know how to run the store, and her two younger daughters have started their own concept within the business including packaged sprinkles and designer kids’ apron, both available for retail sale. Her husband Chris, who is employed by Premier Hydraulics in Farrell also provides support whether it’s baking or delivering items, setting up at local markets or jumping in to help with day-to-day operations.
